YVR Foodies is one of the biggest food communities in Vancouver, with over 2,000 members. We are a network of food bloggers, social media influencers, and food lovers with a vision to hybrid online and offline community-building between the many areas of local gastronomy – food businesses, artisans, producers, authors, and educators. We host monthly events to provide value for the community through networking and marketing exposure between business owners and diners through educational speakers and panels. Aside from sharing our professional networks, we meet up regularly to connect, learn, and enjoy each others’ company over some delicious food, of course!

Are you a Food Business?

Since we have between 30-40 food bloggers and social media influencers coming to each event, we grant them complimentary admission in return for a blog review, social media shares, and Yelp, Zomato, Facebook, and Google reviews of the restaurant/business and the food. In return, we ask the business to provide samples of some of your most popular dishes. We have a professional photographer and videographer who will capture the events, speakers, and food through pictures and videos to share on our blog posts and social media platforms.

YVR Foodies have been operating for over 2 years and we hold events once/month at different restaurants around the city. Our goal is to build community amongst food lovers while at the same time building a bridge between the customer and the restaurant by getting the business owner and/or head chef to come and speak to the group. Our last big event was at Metrotown on Wed, Feb 24, 2016 with the Marketing Director of Metropolis, as well as the West Coast Representative of Zomato attending our event.

Example of the reach generated from social media marketing throughout the course of one evening at our February event. We had a total of 42 attendees, and each were expected to social media promote the business and the speakers throughout the evening, in addition to writing a blog review of the event amongst their greatest sphere of influence.

March Meetup

Just like any good Italian family, this event is about food, family, freinds and fun!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next YVR Foodies event (in partnership with Zomato and Trattoria) on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 6 – 9 pm at Trattoria on Kingsway and Willingdon! We will be providing delicious samples of some of Trattoria’s best menu items and have some amazing guest speakers including one of the head chefs who will share about the history and vision of Trattoria and some of the popular menu items. In addition, Jessica Smith will be sharing about Food Blogging and Food Photography!

Jessica Smith – Food Photography (Keynote Speaker)

Jessica Smith, a professional photographer and avid food lover, will be sharing some of her top photo tips to all attendees on how to better capture your food!! She will also be speaking on the subject of branding and the importance of finding your niche market in a sea of foodies! Make sure to bring along your DSLR cameras and Smart Phones to learn how to improve your food photography skills!

In addition, we will have 2 speakers from Glowbal and Trattoria:

 

Brent O’Connor – Director of Sales –  Glowbal Brand, Trattoria Burnaby

Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Brent headed to Calgary first working with a number of companies in the banking and oil & gas fields.

Looking to the West, he found his passion in the hospitality industry by working through a number of hotel chains and becoming the top sales manager for – Shangri-la, Westin, Sheraton and Best Western hotels all located in Vancouver.

After a number of years of working with large  corporate and entertainment clients, he turned his sights on the Glowbal Restaurant Group whereby he directs the sales efforts for the company’s fourteen locations in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

February Meetup

Our next event is a great opportunity exclusively reserved for any YVR Foodies Food Bloggers and Social Media Influencers in the group. We have been invited to a Chinese New Year party hosted by Food Connections.

We have a VIP private room booked for just our group and we’ll be served a beautifully crafted multi-course menu (including dim sum!) with artisanal tea pairings, along with activities and engaging speakers.
